My Friday Post #9 : Purpose Fires Energy!

This entire week went pondering about today’s post – I felt I lost inspiration. I started on a couple of topics that I have strong convictions about, but the fire was missing. As my good friend, Sunando Guha, had prophetically narrated in one of his inspired poetry many years ago – “there are tides in the affairs of man”!

We all feel that we reach a dead-end occasionally. Have you not? I am certain we all have days where we experience the Midas touch and there are other days where we only seem to be opening Pandora’s box. Sometimes the touch is magically – everything we think about happens exactly as we envisaged. We get the results we want; we achieve the goals we seek. On other days, nothing seems to go right – I remember days studying for my CA exam decades ago. There were days when I was able to solve all problems from the suggested answers. Everything I read seemed crystal clear to me. And then there were those where hours went by reading and I realised that I remembered nothing – resonates?

My spouse and I were sitting sipping our morning cuppa when mentioned to her my inability to be inspired. Something she said clicked and I realised that yes – this happens. What inspires us? What fires or re-energises us? That is the key to get back on track.

What eventually got me back on track was CONIFERLEAD – my own venture – as I began to think about my PURPOSE in there. The genesis of CONIFERLEAD is the inspiration I derived from the conifers that accompanied me on every trek I did. Conifers, as we know are evergreen and survive through some of the harshest conditions, through high winds, snow, and bitter cold. Not just survive, they provide and protect everything around them. True, that there is a tree line beyond which even trees cease to exist. That is really nature telling us what life is about. Back to my thought on the conifers, I recalled why and how I coined my venture CONIFERLEAD that that fired me to action. The message here – without getting very philosophical about it – is that a man’s PURPOSE is the primary motivator. The moment you start to think about your primary purpose, the bones pick up momentum, the nerves start circulation and suddenly the brain energises. Today, I have left incomplete a couple of half written articles on several aspects concerning leadership that will be picked up in due course. Today was the day, I picked up on my PURPOSE again and here I am – right back in the saddle!

If you have not given a thought to WHY you do what you do…….now is the time!
